The admin panel — often called wp-admin or the dashboard — is the private area of your WordPress site where you manage everything behind the scenes. It’s where you write posts, install plugins, change themes, and adjust settings.
You can usually reach it by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s address, then logging in with your username and password.
What You’ll Find There
- Posts and Pages — where you write and manage content.
- Media Library — where uploaded images and files are stored.
- Appearance — theme settings and site design.
- Plugins — install and manage added features.
- Users — manage accounts and permissions.
- Settings — general site configuration.
Keeping It Secure
Since the admin panel controls your entire site, it’s a common target for automated attacks. Using a strong password, enabling two-factor authentication, and keeping WordPress updated all go a long way toward keeping it safe.
