Cache

March 7, 2026 by jumedeenkhan

Caching is the process of storing a temporary copy of your website’s content so it can be delivered faster the next time it’s requested, instead of being rebuilt from scratch every single visit.

WordPress normally has to pull data from the database and generate a page dynamically each time someone visits. Caching skips much of that work by saving a ready-made version of the page and serving it directly.

A Simple Analogy

Imagine cooking the same meal for every customer from scratch versus keeping a batch ready to serve immediately. Caching is like having that batch ready — much faster, with far less repeated effort.

Types of Caching

  • Page caching — stores complete HTML pages ready to serve instantly.
  • Browser caching — lets visitors’ browsers store files locally so repeat visits load faster.
  • Object caching — stores the results of expensive database queries for reuse.

Setting Up Caching

Most WordPress caching is handled through a dedicated plugin, and many managed hosting providers include some form of caching automatically. It’s one of the simplest, highest-impact changes you can make for site speed.
