Keywords

March 7, 2026 by jumedeenkhan

Keywords are the words and phrases people type into search engines when looking for something. In SEO, they’re used to understand what your audience is searching for so you can create content that matches those searches.

If you write a post about “how to make cold brew coffee,” that phrase — and variations of it — is likely a keyword your target audience is actively searching for.

Short-Tail vs Long-Tail Keywords

Short-tail keywords are broad and general, like “coffee.” They tend to get a lot of searches but are extremely competitive to rank for. Long-tail keywords are more specific, like “best cold brew coffee ratio for beginners” — fewer searches, but much easier to rank for and often more likely to convert visitors.

Using Keywords Naturally

It’s tempting to stuff a keyword into every sentence, but search engines have gotten much better at recognizing natural, genuinely useful writing over forced repetition. Write for your reader first, and let keywords appear naturally where they make sense.
