The dashboard is the first screen you see after logging into WordPress. It gives you a quick overview of your site — recent activity, comments, plugin updates, and shortcuts to common tasks.
From there, a menu on the left side gives you access to everything else: posts, pages, media, plugins, appearance settings, and more.
What the Dashboard Shows by Default
- A quick summary of your posts, pages, and comments.
- An activity feed showing recent changes.
- A quick draft box for jotting down post ideas.
- Notices about available updates.
Customizing It
Many plugins add their own widgets to the dashboard, which can make it feel cluttered over time. You can hide individual widgets you don’t need through the “Screen Options” panel at the top of the page, keeping the dashboard focused on what actually matters to you.
