Installation refers to the process of setting up WordPress on a hosting account for the first time, or adding a new plugin or theme to an existing site.
Installing WordPress Itself
Most hosting providers offer a one-click installer that sets up WordPress automatically, handling the database connection and initial configuration for you. It’s rarely necessary to install WordPress manually these days, though it’s still possible by downloading the software directly and uploading it to your server.
Installing Plugins and Themes
From your dashboard, you can search and install plugins or themes directly, without leaving WordPress. If you’ve purchased a premium plugin or theme elsewhere, you’ll usually upload its zip file manually through the Plugins or Appearance section instead.
A Quick Tip
Always download plugins and themes from trusted sources — the official WordPress directory or a reputable developer’s site. Installing files from unknown sources is one of the more common ways sites end up compromised.
