Uploading is the process of sending a file from your computer to your WordPress site — typically an image, video, document, or audio file added to your Media Library.
You can upload directly while writing a post, or through the Media Library section of your dashboard, where files can be organized and reused across your entire site.
Upload Limits
Every hosting account has a maximum file size it allows for uploads, often shown near the upload button in your dashboard. If you’re trying to upload a large video and it fails, this limit is usually the reason, and your host can typically increase it if genuinely needed.
Tips for Smoother Uploads
- Compress large images before uploading to save space and improve load times.
- Use descriptive file names instead of generic ones like “IMG_001.jpg.”
- For large videos, consider hosting them on a platform like YouTube and embedding them instead of uploading directly.
